Day in your life 004 - Marvin King - SDE

My apologies for having a late entry, but I was doing my project which kept me busy all day. Day in your life 004 focused on Marvin King. I met Marvin through sneakers and networking a few years back. Marvin is originally from Ohio, but moved down to the Bay Area a few years back. Currently he is a film major at Academy of Art University, San Francisco. On the creative and unique side, he came up with UglieTV which is a video blog that basically shows how he lives and enjoys his life. From time to time, he gets asked "Why do you film UglieTV even though you don't get paid?" Marvin's reply was simple, "Because I love what I do."

Started out the day by meeting his cousin, Courtney from Boston. We had met up at Berkeley to go eat at some joint were they only serve lunch and gets really packed. From there, we headed out to Benson's place for an interview that Marvin had to do. This was the first time we had gone to Benson's house which was very surprising due to the fact that Benson has always been to my place. All I have to say about Benson's place is just wow, speechless. I had to simply indulge because I was amazed at the fact he had so much to look and cover.

After the interview, headed out to Pixar in Emeryville. We were lucky to even get in since you need someone that works at Pixar. Marvin's Aunt worked there and by surprised we got in thanks to her. Once we got in, the place was just amazing. There was so much to take photos of but I couldn't due to strict policies and security. The only area I was able to take photos were the first floor and not the second. The creativity and output Pixar has offered was speechless. I don't know how many times I was tempted to take photos on the second floor.

After Pixar, we ate at this cafe joint that was close by. Had a mushroom burger and it was on point. Benson had to go and we headed towards Berkeley were Marvin had to do interview a good handful of artists while there was a show called RAW. Pretty cool event. Something I find myself very interested in. Afterwards we ate around Berkeley to end the night. Not bad for long days of work. Nice meeting Courtney and thanks again Marvin.
