UNDS Events - 02.16.19

For as long as I can remember, Nike SB's specially Nike Dunks has always been around the sneaker culture. It's the same as Air Jordans. I've been attending sneaker events for more than 10 years. To be exact, my first sneaker event was back in 2006 which happen to be the first Dunkxchange event. Over the course of time, a lot has changed from style to trends. What stuck around were Nike SB Dunks. I can remember as if it were just yesterday. The latest and most hyped of Nike SB Dunks on tables to people walking around saying "Buy my sneakers!" During those times, prices were to say fair. You had the ones that you knew were going to cost a ton while some sneakers you can find steals and deals.

The last few years to say, you would hear "SB's are dead" "The hype has died" "It's not the same" to even sayings such as "SB's never left or died". Whatever the case may be, SB's just stuck around even when times has changed. Fast forward to 2019 and Nike SB Dunks has hit an all time high in regards to reselling. I would have never imagined that a pair of Stussy's Dunk SB's would be past $400 or a pair of Heinekens would be selling for over $1,000. Non hyped sneakers would be selling for cheap prices while the hyped ones were always suppose to be expensive. It simply amazes me because a few years ago you can find your grails for a decent price. Today, it's no where near that anymore.

At this event, I can recall almost 10 pairs of the beloved Tiffany Lows for sale. Literally every SB you always wanted has came out of storages or closets and are back on the market and selling like hot cakes. I will say that if you are selling, this is such a great time to do so. If you are buying and don't mind paying that price, by all means go ahead. Or maybe you're one of those people who are just sitting there and going "I'll wait until it dies down."

My whole view on this is a mix of both. A handful of SB's I always wanted are now popping up, but it's a price I can never find myself paying because I know what the price of that sneaker should be. It boggles my mind that people are willing to pay three times as much especially if they are deadstock or near that condition. One thing to take from this is that it's nice to see a change from your common Boosts, Yeezys and Jordans. It's kinda like the old times.

With that being said, whether SB's are "back" or "never left" everyone has an opinion and view on it. Thanks again UNDS Events (You know who you are) for inviting me. Good times and I can't wait for the next event. Enjoy!
