From my last I was talking mainly about sneakers, especially the Nike Dunks. All this week, I've been waiting for the mailman to drop off a true gem. After coming home around 12:00AM last night, it was finally here, I was ecstatic. I finally acquired 1985 White & Metallic Blue Low I's! I've always saw them online but never in person except the White & Neutral Grey Lows.
These aren't my size but these are really hard to obtain. Anyone hunting down any original Air Jordan I's know how sought after the lows are. This particular pair had someone caulk these giant holes around the toe section of the sole, ripped leather around the toe box, the stitching for the tongue logo is gone, heel drag with small holes appearing, no stars, smooth surface, the insole is crumbling along with the ankle support around the tag and of course, the midsole is yellowed, parts of the midsole are gone, they have the vintage smell from the leather of 30 years but the history and what they are, make me like them just even more. One good thing is the production date is still intact on both the right and left pair, 850406 TY1. One cool thing I found was the newspaper was from Japan and it was from 2003.
Last night, I wasted no time and actually removed the caulk where the holes appeared on the toe section of the sole. I cleaned the midsole, tongue and the uppers very gently. I did also clean the metallic paint on the swoosh and along the back very gingerly because I knew how the metallic paint chips away very easily. I remember looking on one of the forums many years ago and just saying to myself how cool it would be to actually own one pair one day. My goal for obtaining most or all original Air Jordan I's is achievable but after acquiring these lows, I wanna take a break from it and actually focus on my photography career more. Overall I'm just happy to saw I've finally owned a pair.
